THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOD

From the Garden of Eden, the LORD God had put before man good and evil, and man had to make his choice, since man was the only creature of God to whom He gave the right to obey Him or not to obey Him, man was therefore conscious of good and evil. But God warns man of consequences of his choice.
From the time of Adam and Eve to the time of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the laws of God were in the consciousness of men, but they were not yet promulgated; then men committed all sorts of sins and Abominations, except some as Enoch of which Hebrews 11: 5 speaks: By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, etc. All these people were men who feared and honored God at their time.
The Ten Commandments were promulgated from Moses after the Israelites came out of Egypt after more than four hundred years of slavery so that the people of Israel could live according to the laws of God.
The Bible says:And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exodus 31v18
These laws having been written by God Himself, they can not be abolished or annulled by man, so they are eternal laws.
That is why the Lord Jesus said: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt 5v18

Here are the ten commandments:

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
1-Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2-Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3-Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4-Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5-Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6-Thou shalt not kill.
7-Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8-Thou shalt not steal.
9-Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10-Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. Exodus 20v2-17

In addition to these laws, God inspired Moses to write the book of the law in which the ordinances were written and how to do in case of disobedience to obtain God's mercy and purification. This book of the law was handed to the priests the Levites, of the people who were consecrated to God to serve him.
The Bible says:And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? Deut 31v24-27

Le livre de la loi est dans: Exode, Lévitique, Nombres et Deutéronome, on y trouve tous les détails, les lois sacrificielles, les lois civiles, et les lois sociales,
The book of the law is in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, and contains all the details, the sacrificial laws, the civil laws, and the social laws, for Israel was to become a nation; In spite of all the dispositions of God for the people, the people never ceased to sin and to reoffend. During this dispensation, sin was just covered but was not erased, for there was no deliverance from sin, so men were slaves to sin, despite all the sacrifices they gave.
Man therefore was not able to obey the Ten Commandments of God, so the Israelites were driven from their land and scattered in the four corners of the world, as Deut 28v64 says: And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
But the LORD God in His great mercy gave another solution to the Israelites in order to enable them to put into practice the commandments of God in the person of Jesus Christ who was to come and give himself as the ultimate sacrifice for forgiveness and purification of people and to reconcile people with God, for Israel had committed great sins and separated themselves from their God to worship other gods (read Isaiah 53).
The Ten Commandments are therefore still valid, and Christ through His sacrifice on the Cross gives us grace. We are therefore forgiven, purified and sanctified, yet we must watch over our salvation by observing all the Ten Commandments, this is what will make us new creatures (the new birth), a person who is still in sin And who does not seek his deliverance, is not yet born again, even if he exercises the gifts of the Spirit and has a ministry. The practice of the Ten Commandments is very important for our salvation.
The apostle James says: If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
James 2v8-11

All sins against the law are mentioned in Galatians 5: 19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Christian must observe all the Ten Commandments of God without adding nor subtracting from it, concerning fourth commandment (the Shabbat) is concerned, God gave no specific day name where Shabbat was to be observed, He only said You will work for six days and on the seventh day you will rest, the names of the days have been given by men, so it is up to each people to define their day of rest, but it is absolutely necessary to have a day of rest, this is a commandment, Christians observe their Shabbat on Sunday, which is the seventh day according to the nations in which they live, in Israel and in the Jewish community, Shabbat is Saturday, whether Saturday or Sunday, Shabbat is observed, this is the most important, so no Polemic, has less to prove by the scriptures that God named the days of the week and ordered that the Shabbat be absolutely observed on Saturday. The word "Shabbat" means "rest" it does not mean "Saturday", so your day of rest "Shabbat" can also be Sunday, if you are in a country where Shabbat is decreed on Saturday, you also observe your Shabbat On Saturday, you do not sin.
Apostle Paul said: For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 1Cor 9v19-22

Leviticus 19v18: Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Mark 12-29-30:  29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

When the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:20: For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
The righteousness in question here is the Ten Commandments, for the scribes and the Pharisees constantly violated these laws (Matt 23).

God bless you! Hawa Esther Maiga
