THE SPIRITUAL SEED OF ABRAHAM

Abraham has two seeds, physical and spiritual seed!

PHYSICAL SEED: are those who are born physically that is to say the children he had with Hagar, Sarah and Keturah (see Genesis 25v1-26).

SPIRITUAL SEED: are those who have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ, as Abraham was obedient to God's voice when he wanted to sacrifice his son Isaac, the son of the promise he had with his wife Sarah.

Gn 22v1-3: And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.  And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. And from verses 9 to 13:  And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.  And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.  And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.  And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

And the Lord blessed Abraham: Gen 22v15-18: nd the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,  And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:  That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
The Lord talks here about posterity that would come through Isaac, by Jacob (Israel) from which would come out the Messiah, the Savior of mankind, through whom all nations (Israel and other nations) of the earth would be blessed, but blessing referred to here, is the salvation by faith in the Messiah Jesus Christ, so there is no question of material blessings, but rather spiritual blessing, because at that time, the pagans were rich, for example the Egyptians and other peoples.
So we see a prophecy in the blessing given to Abraham by God, he was the first to receive the Gospel of salvation (salvation by faith), he ate the body and drank the blood (the living bread and wine) of Jesus Christ, in (Gen 14v18-20 and Heb 7v1-3). John 6v54: He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

The spiritual seed of Abraham are the elect of God, and is composed of the children of Jacob and the other peoples of the earth, who were all baptized in Jesus Christ and were born of the Spirit of God, they are all united by faith in Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind. Gal 3v6-9:
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.  So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Reads also verses 13-16; v26-29. That's why the Bible says in John 3v16 that God so loved the world (Israel and the nations) that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER (Israelites and those who are not Israélites) believeth in Him should not perish (will not go to hell for eternity after his death) but have everlasting life ( will inherit the kingdom of God, heaven, after his death).

The spiritual seed of Abraham are under the new covenant which was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah (Jer 31v31-34), but those (Israelites and nations) who  do not have Christ in their lives, are not saved, they are slaves to sin, that  is why the Lord Jesus said to those Jews who believed in Him in John 8v32: You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. These Jews thought they knew the truth because they were physical descendants of Abraham, for that they believed themselves saved, but they needed to go under the new covenant by faith in Christ and not by their religious practices, as even today some still believe.

NB: the perfect plan of God is that all peoples of the earth, Israelites and those who are not Israelites (His creatures) all be saved, because the true God is the creator of all that lives and breathes, and He loves all His creatures and wants them saved from hell, but it depends on each one.

You who reads this article if you have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into your life as your only Savior and Lord, no longer hesitate to do so, because the days are evil, and He returns seeking those who belong to Him (the true born again Christians who bear the seal of the new covenant = the true Holy Spirit who inspire the preaching of gospel of Jesus Christ).

Be bless! Hawa Esther Maiga
